COLCO: Coalition of Leaky Condo Owners

Re: Condo Rot, New Home Warranty & RCMP

We have a copy of ADM Stephen R. Stackhouse’s October 20 letter to leaky condo owner R. Gary Robinson of Victoria.  As you know, but have failed to publicize, the RCMP did not conduct an investigation of the bankrupt New Home Warranty Program. The RCMP media release was false and misleading because there was no RCMP investigation. The government failed to counter the RCMP misinformation.

Stackhouse now states “the RCMP Commercial Crime Unit has completed its review of the New Home Warranty Program”.  A review is not an investigation. Further, having met with the RCMP, we know that the RCMP did not conduct a “review of the New Home Warranty Program.”  The RCMP only reviewed a limited portion of the Barrett Commission report. They did not examine documents, or records, or transcripts, or conduct interviews, or in any other way, try to determine if there was evidence of a crime. The statement by the RCMP and repeated by Stackhouse that the RCMP “concluded that there is not enough evidence to justify criminal charges in connection with the leaky condominium matter” is but another farce foisted on leaky condo victims.  The RCMP didn’t look for evidence and thus found none.

It is quite plain to the owners of leaky rotten condos that the government did not want a complete and thorough examination of the available evidence. The Barrett Commission could have dug deeper on this issue.  Furthermore, it is quite plain that the RCMP is unwilling to investigate  the relationships among developers & builders & The Canadian Home Builders Association & New Home Warranty & the Residential Construction Institute.  The investigation and audits remain not done. We wonder why.

An impotent government and a gutted police force allowed the scam to run for 25 years. There is no sense of justice and accountability. There is no compensation for the victims. Condo rot covers lotus land.

Will the bad guys win again? Will rot rule B.C.?

Yours truly,
COLCO
